Aspen Shimmer: Autumn Symphony Winter's First Bite — Oil on Canvas 10 x 20

Artist Statement:   This classic impressionist work is a tribute to the majestic aspen trees found at the highest altitudes late in autumn. This canvas captures a powerful moment across the high country meadow: tall trees reaching upward beneath the cool blue of an impending winter sky. Executed with signature alla prima technique and thick, sculptural impasto strokes, the composition pulses with energy as golden coin leaves shimmer above, their reflection echoed in the rich ochre grasses below, resting in the pink and purple shadows cast by the vermilion-white trunks. Through bold palette knife work, the painting invites the viewer to feel the sharp bite of impending winter and the quiet majesty of the high country.
