This original acrylic was inspired by the many water well houses along HWY 121 in the vineyards. The striking crimson red roof with tangerine sides and the fire-dry ochre hills and cerulean blue sky.
Perfect squares are the hardest to paint in and artists tend to put the focal point dead center which is never good. Pushing the focal point to the lower left "sweet spot" and breaking the horizon seemed to make it more pleasing to the eye. The paint is thick, first brushed then knifed built up with molding paste leaving ex[posed spots in the canvas giving it interest in its simple, unsophisticated primitive presentation.
