This original multimedia abstract is a deeply personal work which hangs in a friend’s home born from a recurring image I see in my mind, not from a photograph. I used a variety of media—brushed and knifed acrylic, pencil, pastel, paste, Sharpie, and string—to achieve a fantastical, dreamlike vision of a lost, ethereal world. The final piece is a study high in color and intense energy and emotion. The composition is designed for versatility and can be hung either vertically or horizontally. When appropriately lit, the piece truly comes to life, revealing its depth and texture. The photos on this page show the work framed in two different styles: a simple, modern floater frame and a classic museum-style frame with a gold leaf and linen finish. These options demonstrate how dramatically the energy of the painting can change depending on its presentation. After the primary work was hung, I created the two flanking pieces which completed the story and greatly expanded the arrangement to be a single triptych.
