This original acrylic was inspired by opening day of the yachting season in San Francisco from the Sausalito Yacht Club. Boats flood the bay to parade their flags and fame as the clergy offer the traditional Blessing of the Fleet the sea for a safe season. For 108 years, this annual celebration has marked the official kick-off of the Bay Area's sailing season. Remarkably, since 1917, this cherished tradition has only been interrupted by the necessities of World War II and the global pandemic of 2020, which highlights its enduring significance. The day is filled with color as far as the eye can see. Time to hoist the sail, fire the engines and head out to sea under the majestic and mighty Golden Gate Bridge.
